Saturday night we went to the airport to welcome home the latest group of WWII veterans to go on Honor Flight. In 2011, I went on Honor Flight as a guardian with my grandfather, John, who is a WWII veteran. This program is very amazing. The group takes WWII veterans on a one-day trip to Washington, D.C. to see the WWII Memorial. They also have the chance to visit Arlington National Cemetery, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam and Korean war memorials and the Marine Corp Memorial. The Honor Flight organization is so well coordinated and organized the day is so fun for all of the veterans (and guardians too!).
Yesterday, my Uncle George's father - George, was selected to go on Honor Flight out of Buffalo. We went to the airport to welcome him home from his trip! So many family and friends showed up at the airport to welcome their loved ones back from their trip.
Their plane did not get in until super late - but all of them were energetic and ready to greet their family and tell them about their special trip. I am so happy that we decided to go! Enjoy the pictures!
