I am not exactly sure why I decided this would be an excellent idea, but I decided it was time to re-arrange the contents of our kitchen cupboards. To be honest, Christopher and I moved into the house and barely had anything to fill the cupboards, which of course changed after our wedding. We were then blessed with many items to fill our cabinets - which was awesome since we had only 4 dinner plates, stolen pint glasses and a couple of pans. After the wedding, I remember how awesome it was putting everything away. I remember us spending a day after the honeymoon putting it all it a place. But we did not really consider the functionality of the location...I think we were just happy we had the space and could fill it.
Now almost two years later, we realized that a re-org is in need. And the project for this week. I am a little embarrassed to share the before pictures of some of the cabinets, but in the end, it was totally worth it! We did spend a little money to purchase containers - 3 from the Dollar Tree ($1 each) and a set of glass jars from Marshalls for $7.99.

Organized Coffee & Tea cupboard. I do not have a before of this cabinet, but it was cluttered with the coffee stuff, coupons, chocolates, a waffle maker, etc. It was the equivalent to a "junk" cabinet. The top shelf has all of our to-go coffee mugs, 2nd shelf has a container with all of our teas, along with additional boxes/canisters of tea and the bottom shelf has our coffee grinder, coffee, sugar and hot chocolate packets. |
This is a semi-before picture. This cabinet had all of our to-go coffee mugs and flower vases. |
End result - moved the cookbooks to the right and all of the plastic entertaining plates & bowls to the left. These are handy for when preparing food for parties, neighbors, etc. Since they are plastic, I do not mind if they don't make it back. |
This is also the end result of cleaning out our "Baking" cupboard. The bottom two blue containers house all of our spices, 2nd shelf has our measuring cups, recipe box, cupcake baking cups, spray and salt. And the very top shelf has sprinkles, cornmeal, and attachments to the kitchen aid mixer. |
This is the before of our glass & plates cabinet. Not too bad, except for the top shelf. |
We removed all of the random glassware and stuff from the top shelf and lowered it. Then we put all of our serving ware there, since we do not use it as often. |
This is a partial before pic. These drawers were filled with potholders, kitchen towels, bags, cookbooks, lunch boxes, wine carriers (did not realize we had SEVEN). |
The after picture - top drawer contains the pot holders and tivets. Middle drawer contains all of our kitchen towels (neatly folded), wax paper, saran wrap, foil, etc. Then the bottom drawer is our "lunch" station. Containing plastic silverware, napkins, straws (for my smoothies), sandwich bags and my lunch box. |
Pots, Pans & baking drawers/cabinets - before |
After - all pots remained on the left side closest to the stove, but I removed the pyrex from behind the pots. Lids are also kept together in order to find them quickly. The right side now baking supplies and good all contained and the bottom shelf holds the roasting plan and springboard pan. |
Yep - this is definitely a before. All of the random appliances, pans, bowls, etc that we were not sure what to do with. |
Ta Da! Larger appliances, but frequently used, are on the left side. Pyrex bowls and canisters are on the right, along with our baking pyrex. |
Before - entertaining cupboard, but I would be pretty embarrassed to open it with company. |
After - top shelf is less used baking and cooking goods. Middle self has moderately used appliances and entertaining dishes. The bottom shelf has our bin of plastic containers, Magic Bullet and Crock Pot. |
Phew - I am like tired of just looking through the pictures, but it was well worth it! I am enjoying my neat and organized kitchen cupboards.
